Employees of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the Information and Security Service of Moldova came with searches to the home of former President of Moldova Igor Dodon (pictured) in connection with a bribe case.

According to Cotidianul , referring to the press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office, Mariana Kerpec, Dodon received a bribe from the former head of the Democratic Party, businessman Vladimir Plahotniuc. According to ZDG.md, Dodon is suspected under three articles of the Criminal Code - 337 (treason), 343 (passive corruption) and 330.2 (illicit enrichment). Searches are also conducted "on real estate objects owned by intermediaries."

As a reminder, in mid-May, a criminal case was opened against Dodon because of a video that was published by former MP Iurie Renita in 2020. According to the video, Plahotniuc and his deputy Sergei Yaralov handed over a package to Dodon. Renita claims that this meeting took place in 2019 - at that time Dodon was president, and the package contained a large amount of money. In the video, Dodon and Plahotniuc discuss the creation of a coalition in parliament that would have a constitutional majority. According to TV-8, the president said that he "constantly writes notes to Putin."

Last December, it was said that the honorary chairman of the Socialist Party, Igor Dodon, said after interrogation at the Prosecutor General's Office that he was recognized as a suspect in involvement in the theft of $ 12 million. Dodon does not have immunity. He can be detained if the prosecutor's office deems it necessary.
