Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on simplifying the procedure for obtaining citizenship for residents of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine. In fact, this is an extension of the existing document on a simplified scheme for obtaining Russian citizenship for residents of the DNR and LNR.

Thus, amendments are made to Decree No. 183 of April 24, 2019. The document is published on the Official Internet Portal of Legal Information, and comes into force from the date of signing.

“In paragraph 1, the words “in the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic or the Luhansk People’s Republic” shall be replaced by the words “in the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Luhansk People’s Republic, the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine or the Kherson region of Ukraine,” the text of the decree says.

Similar changes apply to subparagraph "b" of paragraph 2.
