The Executive Committee of the Russian Football Union left the current format of the Russian Premier League (RPL), without increasing the number of clubs playing in it.

This was reported by the press service of the RPL.

As in the current season, 16 teams will participate in the matches. Previously, it was proposed to increase their number to 18, reports"Soviet sport".

The composition of the participants for the next season will be determined based on the results of the play-offs between the RPL and FNL-1 teams, which will be held on May 25 and 28. A match between SKA Khabarovsk and Khimki is scheduled for May 25, as well as a meeting between Ufa and Orenburg.

Kazan "Rubin" and Tula "Arsenal" had previously taken off from the RPL. And the Moscow club "Torpedo" and the Voronezh "Torch" received licenses to play in the RPL next season.
