Four million-plus cities appeared in the country

Also, Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Ufa and Chelyabinsk are also millionaires. In total, 35.7 million people live in all these cities. About 147.2 million people live permanently in the country. The indicator increased by 1.4% compared to 2010.

When all calculations are completed in Rosstat, the final figure may be slightly adjusted.

Note that the population of the capital of Russia has grown over ten years to 13 million people. According to the results of the 2010 census, the number of citizens in the capital was 11.7 million.

The All-Russian population census was held from October 15 to November 14, 2021. Now Rosstat is summing up its results. The census has been postponed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic. Holding it in 2021 has been heavily criticized.
