Boris Johnson retained as British prime minister

According to The Guardian, 211 members of parliament supported Johnson, and 148 voted in a vote of no confidence. Thus, Johnson will continue to be the leader of the Conservatives and Premier of the Republic.

Before that, at least 15% of the Conservative Party (54 deputies) sent letters of no confidence to Johnson to the head of the "Committee of 1922" (the parliamentary group from the Conservative Party in the House of Commons of Great Britain), Sir Graham Brady. According to the law, the committee held a vote on questions of confidence in the party leader.

The reason for the letters was Johnson's parties on Downing Street during the pandemic lockdown.

Johnson in lockdown was seen in a company of more than ten people in the garden on Downing Street in London. In the photographs, the politician is captured in the company of his wife and 17 people, with wine and snacks. Also in the photo from the party is the former British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Earlier polls showed that more than half of the citizens of the UK want Johnson to leave his post. According to 62% of citizens, the most important reputational blow for Johnson was the party at the Prime Minister's residence on Downing Street in May 2020 during the pandemic lockdown.
