According to the press service of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction, the state prosecution requested for Vadim Belousov a sentence of 14 years in prison in a strict regime colony, as well as a fine of 500,000,000 rubles. In addition, the prosecutor's office demands to deprive him of the right to hold public office for 15 years and take away the medal "For Services to the Fatherland, II degree." For his 80-year-old mother-in-law Margarita Butakova, the prosecution asks for a 4-year imprisonment in a penal colony and a fine of half a billion rubles.

Vadim Belousov is a major entrepreneur from Chelyabinsk, a long-term partner of the ex-governor of the region Mikhail Yurevich. Belousov is a co-owner of the well-known food company Makfa. His problems with the law began several years ago, when, after his resignation from the post of governor of the Chelyabinsk region, the security forces opened a criminal case against Mikhail Yurevich (through his father he was the main owner of Makfa). Among other things, Yurevich was accused of taking a large bribe for patronage during a large-scale road construction in the region, which was called the "road revolution". Shortly after resigning from his post, Yurevich left Russia and is currently in London. Then charges were brought against his partner Belousov, who, by the way, never worked in the government of the Chelyabinsk region, he did business and was elected to the State Duma. Belousov was charged with receiving 3 billion rubles for patronage during the execution of road contracts. His 80-year-old mother-in-law Margarita Butakova, who worked as a chief accountant in one of the Makfa structures, was, according to investigators, an intermediary.
