Thailand has legalized the cultivation of marijuana (cannabis), as well as its consumption, if this "potion" is contained in food and drinks. At the same time, marijuana smoking is still contrary to local laws, for the violation of which a tourist can easily “thunder” in jail.

According to Reuters , announcing the reform, the local government pursues two goals - to stimulate the development of agriculture and to attract as many tourists from abroad as possible. The authorities are banking on the plant-based marijuana hemp as a cash crop and will seek to encourage farmers to grow it.

At the same time, Thailand, which has always been famous for its strict anti-drug laws, became the first country in Asia to allow the production of products with the addition of hemp.

It's no secret that in 2018 Thailand officially allowed the use of marijuana as a remedy for pain and fatigue.

The innovation was welcomed by tourist buyers, who previously rushed through Thai markets in search of drinks and sweets with the addition of cannabis,

“After the pandemic, Thailand's economy began to slip and the reforms announced by the authorities will greatly help the country survive,” Chokwang Kitty Chopaka , owner of a marijuana candy store, told reporters.

Thai Ministry of Health spokesman Paisan Danhum warned that the possession and sale of cannabis extracts containing more than 0.2% of its psychoactive ingredient, tetrahydrocannabinol, is not allowed. This, in his opinion, will exclude drug smokers from getting "high". Those who break the law will be subject to heavy fines or jail time.

To date, according to Reuters, almost 100,000 farmers in Thailand have received a license to grow cannabis.

Hemp has a rich history of human use as a material for making paper , clothing , shoes , rope, rope, rope and thread , and as a psychotropic drug . The first draft copies of the US Constitution are known to have been printed on hemp paper .

Today, the recreational use of marijuana is legal in Uruguay, South Africa, Georgia, Mexico, and Canada. In addition, the drug is legal in ten states and two US territories, as well as the District of Columbia. However, at the federal level, regimental marijuana is illegal.
