Sanctions on the supply of turbines greatly slowed down the "Nord Stream-1"

Gazprom is cutting gas supplies via the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline by 40%. This means that instead of the usual 167 million cubic meters per day, 100 million cubic meters will be pumped through the pipe. Gazprom explained the reason for the reduction in supplies - "untimely repairs by Siemens".

For its part, Siemens said that the reduction in supplies is due to the lengthy repair of the turbine of the compressor station. According to Spiegel, the sanctions imposed against the Russian "Gazprom" do not allow the return of the turbine from the Canadian enterprise. The parts used to pump gas into the pipeline are usually serviced every 3-4 years, and the work must be carried out in Canada - at the only plant in Montreal where "for technical reasons" such work is possible. According to a Bloomberg source, the company cannot even take one of the turbine units out of Russia. The company is looking for a solution, writes Berliner Zeitung, citing a representative of the German concern.

“After the partial shutdown of the Nord Stream, about 1.1 billion cubic meters per week will be pumped to Europe, which is THREE times lower than the not very successful 2021 and the loss of up to 2 billion cubic meters per week”, - financial analyst Pavel Spydel calculated. “Thus, Europe will lose about 110 billion cubic meters per annum…”

Before the power cut, Nord Stream 1 provided 30% of this volume, and the Ukrainian route - 21%. Experts warn that even in the event of a sharp increase in demand for Russian gas in the winter, Gazprom is likely to be unable to significantly increase supplies.
