Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov negatively answered the question of journalists about whether the Kremlin agrees with the statement about the first default in the country after 1918.

“No, we don’t agree”, - Peskov said.

Earlier today it was reported that Bloomberg "declared" a default in Russia, writing that the grace period for the payment of $ 100 million in overdue payments on government bonds has expired. The author of the article points out that the end of this grace period is the default event.

It's worth to underline that formally, the payment is made, but in rubles. The money didn't reach the creditors. Some analysts consider the default to be technical, others are sure that the consequences cannot be avoided.

Earlier it became known that the United States did not renew Russia's license to service external public debt. The corresponding permit was valid until May 25.
