By decision of the Meshchansky Court of Moscow, municipal deputy Alexey Gorinov was sentenced to seven years in prison for spreading false information about the RF Armed Forces.

"The court imposed a sentence of imprisonment for 7 years to be served in a penal colony", - RIA Novosti quotes the words of representatives of the press service of the court.

Gorinov was accused under the article on public distribution under the guise of reliable information of deliberately false information containing data on the use of the RF Armed Forces, using his official position, by a group of persons by prior agreement, based on political hatred.

The state prosecutor also requested seven years in prison for him.

The defense side asked to suspend the proceedings in the case of the municipal deputy and send it to the Constitutional Court to check Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for compliance with the Basic Law, believing that this article, introduced in the Criminal Code in March of this year, raises doubts among lawyers, since, according to her, was adopted "to suppress political pluralism and dissent". Lawyers insisted that the article contradicts part 3 of article 55 of the Constitution on the list of grounds for restricting the rights of citizens.
