Vector talks about monkeypox vaccine trial

He emphasized in an interview with Izvestia that at present there is no smallpox vaccine in the country.

- Previously, the Soviet vaccine was live, but now no one is working with such a vaccine. The only official place in Russia that has smallpox virus strains is only Vector. And this institution is now developing a vector vaccine against smallpox, not a live one, - the physician pointed out.

Prodeus clarified that the vaccine "is almost in the third phase of clinical trials." However, he noted that previous scientific work has proven that those who are vaccinated against smallpox are immune and protected from monkeypox.

On the eve it became known that the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Rospotrebnadzor are jointly exploring the possibility of scaling the technology for the production of a vaccine and a test system for detecting the monkeypox virus.

Recall that the first case of monkeypox in Russia was detected in St. Petersburg. The infected person turned to the doctors on his own, discovering a characteristic rash.
