Uzbekistan has taken a leading position among the automakers of the CIS countries in terms of production volumes, the PromRating research agency reports.
This situation has developed in Russia, of course, because of the sanctions. But a year ago the situation was radically different. In 2021:
- Russia produced 1.4 million cars and was the leader in this indicator in the CIS;
- Uzbekistan took the 2nd place (236 thousand cars);
- Closed the top three leaders of Kazakhstan - 93 thousand cars (including trucks and buses).
Now, everything is different: in the first half of 2022, Uzbekistan (UzAuto) produced 160,000 cars, and Russia - only 120,000 (AvtoVAZ - 80,000, Hyundai - 40,000). It is known that the capacities of AVTOVAZ were idle most of the time from February to the beginning of June due to a disruption in the supply of components, and the Russian Hyundai plant has been idle for political reasons since the beginning of March. According to the results of the production of cars at other car factories in the territory of the Russian Federation, since the beginning of 2022, there is too little information, experts write.
“It can be said that during 2022, the car factories of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will actively increase the production of cars on their conveyors, since they are not burdened with international restrictions that enterprises in Russia and Belarus are currently suffering from”, - the agency notes.
