The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, said that he considers the dismantling of aircraft for spare parts not an invention of Russian aviation, but an international practice.

Deputy Prime Minister Manturov made such a statement during a session at the Army-2022 forum, Prime notes.

A few days earlier, Western media reported that Russian airlines, which have lost access to spare parts due to economic sanctions imposed after the start of the Russian military special operation in Ukraine, are forced to dismantle aircraft for spare parts.

"At least one Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 and Airbus A350 aircraft, both operated by Aeroflot, are currently stopped and being dismantled", - one source told Reuters.

Now the Ministry of Transport is developing amendments to the legislation, according to which it will be allowed to rearrange spare parts from one aircraft to another in order to maintain their serviceability.

“What you said about the rearrangement of spare parts is in fact not an invention of our Russian aviation, which operates equipment, it is a world practice in order to ensure the rhythm of maintenance and operation of aircraft”, - the agency quotes the words of the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Manturov said that he would not like to use the word "cannibalism" when describing the process of dismantling aircraft for parts in order to ensure the airworthiness of other airliners. He pointed out that the removal of spare parts from some cars in order to ensure "operational flights" is not a Russian practice, but an international one, "and this state of affairs" has always been the case.

Earlier it was reported that the list of Western sanctions included harsh measures against the Russian aviation industry. The supply of civil aircraft and spare parts to Russia from the EU is prohibited. Those companies that leased aircraft to Russia terminated their contracts. The EU stopped carrying out maintenance of aircraft from the Russian Federation and refused to insure them.
