According to RIA Novosti , the day before, residents of the capital complained about the smell of burning in the south and south-west of the city, but by the morning of August 18, the smell from the Ryazan conflagrations had already reached the north-west, as well as the center of Moscow.
“In addition, now it smells like burning in the metropolitan metro,” the newspaper notes.
The districts of the capital were enveloped in thick smog. Because of this, visibility on the streets of the city deteriorated.
“The towers of Moscow City, usually clearly visible from the center of the capital on the Garden Ring, are now barely distinguishable,” the message says.
Earlier it was reported that forest fires spread in many regions of the country, including in the Ryazan and Nizhny Novgorod regions. This made it difficult for people to breathe. Allergy sufferers and asthmatics have exacerbated problems with the respiratory system.
According to scientists, due to global warming over the past 20 years, the area of forests destroyed by fires on the planet has doubled . Experts urge the authorities to urgently step up the fight against global warming, causing fires and other natural disasters.
