254 illegal migrants were rescued in English Channel in four days

According to the newspaper Le Figaro, this could mean an increase in the flow of illegal migrants into the country. Since the beginning of 2022, there have been 533 attempts by 18,763 migrants to reach the British coast by boat. This is more than 50% higher than in 2021, which, in turn, was considered a record year.

On August 14, 63 migrants in distress were rescued by a French Navy patrol boat. The very next night, the patrol rescued another 40 illegal immigrants.

Illegal migrants from the poorest countries in Africa and the Middle East have become a real disaster for the authorities of the European Union and the UK.

At the beginning of the month, it became known that a boat with dozens of illegal immigrants sank in the Aegean Sea east of the island of Karpathos, and a search and rescue operation began at the crash site.
