Afghanistan offered to exchange Russian oil for raisins and medicinal herbs

According to RIA Novosti with reference to the data of the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan Nuriddin Azizi, barter for the regime of the Taliban* who came to power a year ago is a priority scheme for obtaining goods from the Russian Federation.

“If operations under such a scheme fail, then we can use financial transactions”, - Kommersant quotes the words of the minister.

He added that the United States and the EU have not imposed sanctions on Afghanistan in terms of raw materials, so "Afghanistan can pay for these goods with money".

In total, Kabul needs about 1 million tons of gasoline and 1 million tons of diesel fuel by the end of the year, the Taliban would like to receive these goods from the Russian Federation.

In the opposite direction, Afghanistan intends to send dried fruits, raisins and medicinal herbs, while we are talking about "hundreds of tons."

The Taliban assure that now the prices for medicinal herbs are "very high, and Russia needs such raw materials for medicine."

On August 14, an Afghan delegation arrived in Moscow to negotiate with the Russian authorities. After a series of meetings in the capital, the Taliban headed for Kazan.

Earlier it was reported that after the Taliban came to power, drug trafficking from the territory of Afghanistan has seriously increased. Massive protests against falling living standards and human rights violations by the Taliban regime are taking place in the country. Actions are severely dispersed by the authorities.
