Ministry of Digital Development decided to create a fund for victims of data leakage

According to Kommersant, citing its sources, money for these purposes can be allocated from turnover fines that companies will have to pay for information leaks.

Now specialists are working on establishing conditions for payments, a mechanism for determining the amount of payments, and so on. According to experts, the creation of such a fund will require administrative costs and a system for recording and distributing compensation. To date, it remains unclear whether the victims will have to substantiate the damage and prove it, and in this case, "a few will be able to receive compensation".

Earlier it became known that the authorities are going to tighten the responsibility of enterprises for the leakage of personal data of customers. The draft contains a proposal to increase the turnover penalty from 1 to 3% if the violating company does not notify Roskomnadzor of a data leak incident within 24 hours. It is expected that the bill will go to the State Duma next week.
