The Russians withdrew a record amount of currency to foreign banks

According to RBC, referring to the data of the Central Bank, this is a record amount since 2018 - since the publication of such statistics began.

In May, the withdrawal of the currency was at the level of $1.5 billion, in June it more than tripled. Also, a jump in transfers was observed in February - $ 4.3 billion. As of June 1, Russian households had 2.29 trillion rubles - $ 44.7 billion in accounts in foreign banks. During June, balances increased by 11.6% against an increase of 4% in May.

Experts believe that the trend is due to the departure of some citizens to other countries, as well as "card tourism" after the withdrawal of Visa and Mastercard payment systems from the Russian Federation.

Earlier it was reported that millions of dollars flowed into the banks of the CIS countries at the expense of the Russians.
