Children whose bodies were found in suitcases in New Zealand died three to four years ago

New Zealand police say the bodies of children found in suitcases bought at an auction in Auckland have lain there for three to four years. Children, whose gender is not yet known, are from five to ten years old. The investigation also found their relatives in Asia and New Zealand, writes the Daily Mail. Interpol got involved.

The police are trying to analyze CCTV footage from the warehouse, but this will not be easy given the time elapsed between the time of death and the time of discovery. More informative, according to the police, was a DNA test.

The bodies were discovered on August 11 by an Auckland family who blindly purchased the contents of a storage container at auction. The goods were put up for auction by a warehouse company: this is how they deal with things for the storage of which the rent stops coming. Buyers are not allowed to see the contents of the container before the auction, they bid at random. The Oakland family was only able to take a closer look at their purchase after they brought their belongings, including two suitcases, home. Witnesses reported that after calling the police, they saw three hearses near the buyers' house.
