Since the end of February this year, companies from Germany have lost more than 10 billion euros due to the withdrawal from the Russian market.

As Handelsblatt analysts pointed out, after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, most companies from Germany stopped including Russian and Belarusian assets in their reporting, since they stopped making a profit.

It is known that Uniper, which wrote off 2 billion euros due to the freezing of Nord Stream 2, lost more than 12 billion euros due to the cessation of Russian gas supplies. Interim profit was 564 million euros compared to the same period in 2021 - 580 million euros. Net profit of 359 million euros was lower than the value of the first half of 2021 - 485 million euros.

The most common way for German companies to get rid of Russian assets is to sell local subsidiaries to Russian management. Redistributions of the company's assets also suffer losses because they sell property at a reduced symbolic price.
