“The agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the government of the Russian Federation on measures to ensure the parallel operation of the Unified Energy System of Ukraine and the Unified Energy System of the Russian Federation has been terminated”, - Melnychuk said (quoted by Kommersant).
The parties signed the agreement in July 2012. The agreement provided for the maintenance of the proper condition of the power grids and the coordination of plans for the parallel operation of power systems.
The "System Operator" of the Unified Energy System (SO UES) of Russia commented on the situation, stating that the termination of the contract would not affect the population of the Russian Federation, and the parallel operation of the energy systems of Ukraine and Russia was terminated on February 24.
“This circumstance does not affect the reliability of the operation of the UES of Russia and the energy supply to consumers. The system operator ensures compliance with the N-1 reliability principle in the UES of Russia - in the event of a single shutdown of the power grid or generating equipment in the UES of Russia and the UES of Belarus, the parameters of the electric power regime are in the range of permissible values, the power supply to consumers is carried out without restrictions”, - explained in SO UES (quotation from TASS).
