Latvian President Egils Levits demands to isolate the Russian-speaking residents of the republic, who oppose the country's political course. Levits believes that Russia's military operation in Ukraine has already become a routine for the West.

With the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict, both positive and negative changes occurred in Latvian society. The President said that now the citizens of Latvia have truly realized the price of freedom and have become more patriotic. But at the same time, a “Russian-speaking part disloyal to the state” appeared in Latvia.

“Our task is to deal with her and isolate her from the rest of society”, - the head of the republic said.

The conflict in Ukraine has become a routine for Western society, but this, according to Levits, does not mean that Kyiv is losing. He explained that Latvia, NATO, Europe and other Western countries will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine.

Recall that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Latvia proposed to suspend the issuance of repeated residence permits to citizens of Russia and Belarus for a period of one year. Today, Russian citizens have more than 9,000 valid residence permits, almost 2,000 of which were issued in connection with investments.
