Chery changed its mind about producing cars at the UAZ site

The Chinese company has a localization project with Sollers Auto, which is part of UAZ. In June, UAZ came under EU sanctions. Now the Chinese company is looking for options, including excluding the participation of Sollers. The concern may take the site of one of the Western automakers in the event of his departure, but it is not specified which manufacturer is in question.

Most likely, Chery's local products in Russia will be presented under the main brand. The concern also has Exeed, Omoda and Jetour brands, but the last two are not represented in Russia today.

Earlier it was reported that Chery is launching a new car specifically for the Russian market.

In April, it was assumed that the body of the Chery Tiggo 8 crossover was seen on the conveyors of UAZ, which was driven through the body painting shop. What is happening may be a technological test, after which the start of production of Chinese crossovers in Ulyanovsk may follow.
