Media: Iran delivered the first batch of military drones to Russia

It is reported by The Washington Post (WP). According to the publication, when testing Iranian equipment, the Russian army had problems that caused dissatisfaction with the Russian military with the quality of the supplied drones.

“The US administration claims that in total Russia should receive “hundreds of Iranian UAVs of various types”,” Kommersant writes.

According to media reports, Iran sent at least two types of drones to Russia - Mohajer-6 and Shahed. They are suitable for strikes against military targets and firing at radar systems.

According to WP, deliveries of Iranian UAVs to Russia began on August 19 with Russian transport aircraft.

Earlier it was reported that Russian scientists have developed their own shock drone " Lancet ". The Russian military plans to adopt an army of these kamikaze drones to protect the country's maritime borders from violating ships.

According to the military, the advantage of using drones is their high efficiency at a relatively low cost. The production and maintenance of loitering shells is significantly cheaper than the use of anti-ship missiles . One small drone can effectively disable an enemy vessel by attacking its navigation systems and rendering it completely helpless. At the same time, the army does not plan to take care of the drones that have completed their task: kamikaze drones will self-destruct after completing their mission.

However, the total number of military UAVs, according to American intelligence, the Russian army today does not exceed 1500-2000 units. The United States believes that the Russian army does not yet have the number of strike drones necessary for conducting a military operation.

Washington believes that Iranian drones will partially fill a gap in the Russian military campaign in Ukraine. Earlier it was reported that the United States warned of the possibility of imposing new sanctions against Iran and the Russian Federation in case of confirmation of the delivery of Iranian combat drones to Russia.
