Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov demands from the European Union to explain the situation with the speech of the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell (pictured), concerning foreign policy. In the words of Borrell, there were statements about the Russian Federation as a "fascist state".

- We asked Mr. Borrell's office for a transcript of the speech in Spanish, they don't give it to us. We will strive for complete clarity, and if we do not receive this transcript in Spanish today, then we will draw the appropriate conclusions, the Russian minister said.

Lavrov stressed that it is Borrell who appoints EU representatives abroad. For example, a week ago a new head of the EU Delegation to Russia was appointed.

“If Monsieur Borrell so instinctively takes for granted the struggle, as he put it, against the “fascist regime”, then I would very much like to know what instructions, what directives he issued to his representative in Moscow, and what line this representative will pursue, - inquired the diplomat.

If the world media reports are confirmed, then Moscow "will have very big questions about how to continue to deal with these people."

Recall that Borrell made ambiguous statements on September 5 at a speech at the inter-parliamentary conference of the European Parliament in Prague. He answered questions in Spanish, and when translated into English, one of his phrases was as follows: So far we have no concrete plan on how to defeat fascist Russia and its fascist regime. Later, a representative of the head of European diplomacy said that this was a translation error, and in the original, the speaker quoted the corresponding wording of the member of the European Parliament.

Also on the eve, Borrell admitted that the inhabitants of European countries are tired of the consequences of anti-Russian sanctions and, in addition, are worried about the upcoming winter. At the same time, according to him, the Russian authorities should not be allowed to take advantage of this fatigue of the Europeans. Borrell added that the strength test of EU residents will continue. The authorities of European countries should continue to explain to residents about their responsibility in connection with the military conflict in Ukraine. In particular, to talk about the importance of reducing the dependence of European countries on Russian resources.
