A British government source told Reuters that representatives from Russia, Belarus and Myanmar were not invited to the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II (pictured). The reason for this was the sanctions.

“The UK has not invited representatives of Russia, Belarus and Myanmar to the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth, which will take place next Monday,” the source told Reuters .

He noted that Britain and its allies are seeking to isolate Russia and its ally Belarus in the international arena through economic sanctions and other restrictions. Myanmar is also under British sanctions - this is how London expresses support for the Rohingya community.

Even before that, the Kremlin ruled out a trip by Russian President Vladimir Putin to the funeral of Elizabeth II, who died on September 8. At the same time, the press secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov, did not rule out the possibility of sending a representative of the Russian Federation.

“While it has not been announced what the protocol practice is, all this should be announced by the royal court or the authorities,” he commented on September 9.

In total, about 500 high-ranking foreign persons were invited to the funeral. London, according to Politico , insisted on reducing those present to heads of state with their spouses or their representatives. At the same time, they were asked to travel to the British capital on commercial flights and use less busy airports. World leaders are prohibited from using helicopters and their own cars, and they will be taken to the place of burial by buses.
