The White House has begun exploring options to impose sanctions on China to prevent it from invading Taiwan, Reuters reports. At the same time, the Taiwanese authorities are counting on the European Union to join the sanctions. It is expected that a new package of sanctions, in addition to those already adopted in the areas of high technology, computer chips and telecommunications equipment.
Washington has become especially concerned about the problem of containing China after the situation in Taiwan escalated in connection with the visit there in early August of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Congress, Nancy Pelosi. Now the US wants to find and introduce new restrictions at the same time, without provoking Beijing to invade. At the same time, American experts believe that introducing new sanctions against China is a much more difficult task than against Russia, since the economies of the United States and its allies are very closely connected with China.
At the same time, American intelligence is sure that sooner or later China will invade Taiwan anyway - the only question is when exactly?
