The Pope said that the supply of weapons to Kiev can be "morally permissible"

“This is a political decision that can be morally acceptable if it is made on the basis of morality", - the Pope said in response to a journalist's question about whether it is morally right to send weapons to the Kiev regime.

Citing the principles of "just war" of the Roman Catholic Church, the pontiff explained that the "proportional" use of lethal weapons for self-defense is allowed:

"Self-defense is not only legal, but also an expression of love for the Motherland ... If you defend something, you love it. It can be immoral if your intention is to provoke another war or sell weapons or get rid of weapons that are no longer needed. Motivation is what largely determines the morality of this action".

In addition, he believes that Moscow and Kyiv need to start a dialogue. He also spoke about the resumption of negotiations in July.
