The State Duma proposed to mobilize deputies

During the plenary session of the State Duma, Oleg Nilov, a member of the Just Russia party, suggested that deputies should be “self-mobilized” first of all. He called the parliamentarians communists and said that there are enough of them in the country to win the confrontation in Ukraine.

"We have reserves, and very rather big ones. We have all forgotten the call “Communists, forward!”. And who are the "communists" today? Deputies! There are 77 thousand of us in Russia, party members - under 3 million. That's who you need to turn to with a call for self-mobilization. And that will be enough to win”, - Nilov said.

In turn, the leader of the LDPR, Leonid Slutsky, noted the importance of supporting volunteers who want to be at the forefront.

"Today, a number of regions continue to form and strengthen their volunteer units. It is necessary to make an appropriate decision on their support, to accept benefits and preferences for them. This work must be carried out in all regions. Thousands and thousands of people express their readiness to stand shoulder to shoulder on the front line. Mobilization is an absolutely timely and correct idea", - Slutsky said.

The day before, State Duma deputies adopted in the second and third readings a law amending the Criminal Code on liability for desertion during wartime, for looting, destruction of weapons and military equipment, and surrender. Thus, the document was supplemented with the concepts of "mobilization", "martial law" and "wartime". The new bill was introduced by a group of deputies from United Russia, the Liberal Democratic Party, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and New People, as well as senators Andrei Klishas and Olga Kovitidi.
