Alarming reports that at first some banks in Turkey, and then in Vietnam, and Kazakhstan, and some other countries suspended the acceptance of Mir cards, seem to be beginning to fade away. In any case, as the Accents channel writes with reference to the Turkish edition of Sozcu, which in turn refers to the diplomatic circles of Turkey, the President of this country, Erdogan, undertook to personally help the Russian payment system, resolving disputes over the use of its bank cards.
So far, only two of Turkey's largest banks have refused to accept Mir - Is Bankasi and Denizbank, both of which are strongly associated with Russia: Denizbank used to belong to Sberbank, and Is Bankasi has a Russian subsidiary. By the way, after abandoning Mir, this bank lost 10% of its market value in just one day.
Novye Izvestia has already written that Turkish banks began to abandon Mir after the US Treasury sent them a warning about the inadmissibility of these actions. However, Turkish Ziraat Bank, Halkbank and Vakıfbank still work with this payment system.
But the National Bank of Kazakhstan allowed the banks of this country to make decisions about the "Mir" on their own, noting that, according to the laws of this country, there are no restrictions on the service and use of these cards by bank customers. So far, "Mir" is not accepted by Kazakhstan's People's Bank and CenterCredit Bank.
