Josep Borrell says new EU sanctions will be sectoral and personal

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, announced that the next package of anti-Russian sanctions, which the European Union intends to introduce “as soon as possible, will include personal and sectoral restrictions.

"Today it is obvious that we will continue to provide and will develop military support by supplying weapons to Ukraine. We will also study and adopt new restrictions, both personal and sectoral”, - Borrell said, adding that Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal participated in the informal meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the EU member states in New York.

The head of European diplomacy explained the need for the meeting by saying that it was necessary to understand "what is at stake".

The Japanese Foreign Ministry has already announced its intention to expand anti-Russian sanctions against the backdrop of the decision of Donbass to hold a referendum on joining Russia. The West refused to recognize the results of these referendums in advance. In Ukraine, they even threatened citizens with criminal liability and five years in prison for voting.
