During the lessons, an unknown person broke into the school of the city of Izhevsk No. 88 and started shooting at the staff and students.

The head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, said in his Telegram channel that the attacker was allegedly armed with two traumatic pistols converted to live ammunition.

“A terrible tragedy in Izhevsk. According to preliminary data, the offender was armed with two traumatic pistols converted to live ammunition. So far, his identity has not been established”, - Khinshtein said in a published message.

Earlier it was reported that, according to preliminary information, the shooter shot himself. According to eyewitnesses, for some time he fired back at the police from the school building.

Information about the wounded and the dead is constantly updated. The Interior Ministry reported six dead and 20 wounded. Telegram channel 112 spoke about 13 dead, including 7 children, as well as 9 victims, of which 8 were minors. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported nine dead: two security guards, two teachers and five schoolchildren.

“According to preliminary data, nine people became victims of the crime, including two security guards of the educational institution and two teachers, as well as five minors, some were injured. Information on the dead and wounded is being specified. The attacker committed suicide", - the statement on the website of the Russian Investigative Committee reads.

The department noted that the attacker was wearing a balaclava and a T-shirt with Nazi symbols. The shooter had no documents with him - his identity is being established.

According to the local publication Udm-info, parents of students from neighboring schools (Nos. 86, 83, 56) reported that the children were locked in classrooms and not allowed out of schools for fear of another attack.

“In our school - it is located next to the 88th, where there was a shooting - all the students were locked in classrooms, doors and windows were closed and they did not let them out. My son gave it to me and called me. Enhanced security. The order of the head of the education department is not to let anyone out”, - one of the parents told the publication.
