A sharp drop in pressure was recorded on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline

Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of Nord Stream 2, reported a sharp drop in pressure from 300 to 7 bar. The situation is described as an emergency.

“Emergency on line A of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Tonight, the Nord Stream 2 onshore site controller recorded a sharp drop in pressure in line A”, - the operator said in a statement (quoted by RIA Novosti).

The company notified the shore services of Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Russia about the incident. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified, an investigation is underway.

The German Ministry of Economy notes that the reasons for the incident have not been established. The agency is studying the situation, and also checks the possibility of depressurizing the area in German territorial waters.

The Danish Maritime Authority reported that the gas leak occurred near the island of Bornholm. They considered the situation dangerous for navigation.
