State funeral for former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe ends in Tokyo

Japan has completed the state funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The farewell ceremony was held in the Japanese capital at the Nippon Budokan martial arts hall. The ceremony was broadcast on all central channels.

The farewell ceremony for the former Prime Minister was attended by the current Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, the former head of the Japanese government Yoshihide Suga, the Secretary General of the Cabinet of Ministers Hirokazu Matsuno and other members of the government, as well as the former Minister of Defense of the country Nobuo Kishi, who is also the younger brother of the deceased.

The ashes of the former prime minister were delivered by car from his house. While the ashes were brought into the hall of martial arts, 19 artillery volleys thundered. Then a minute of silence was announced.

In total, 4.3 thousand people participated in the farewell ceremony with the ex-premier of the country. Among the invited guests were the heads of 34 states, as well as 14 former leaders. Representatives of Russia were also present among the invited guests. These are Mikhail Shvydkoi, the special envoy of the Russian president for international cultural cooperation, and Mikhail Galuzin, Russian ambassador to Japan.

Security during the farewell ceremony was provided by about 20,000 police officers. Part of the roads in the city center were blocked. Restrictions will remain in place until Wednesday, while dignitaries remain in Tokyo.
