Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the country would once again impose restrictive measures against Moscow - this time because of referendums in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.

“In response to this further escalation, we intend to introduce new sanctions against individuals and entities that are involved in this latest attempt to undermine the principles of state sovereignty,” Trudeau said.

According to him, Canada will not recognize the results of the vote, and their results "have no legitimacy."

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin "will have nothing to talk about" if Moscow recognizes the results of referendums in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

Serbia also refused to recognize the results of the Donbass referenda. The European Union also decided not to recognize the results of the vote on the accession of Donbass and regions of Ukraine to Russia. The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, called the referendums and their results "fictitious." Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya recalled Zelensky's words to the Russians - "get out to Russia" and pointed to the connection between the territorial integrity of countries and the observance of the rights of all peoples inhabiting them.

Meanwhile, it became known that 99.23% of voters voted for the entry of the DPR into Russia in a referendum. 2,133,326 voters participated in the voting - 97.51% of the total number of voters.
