Melitopol named aa the temporary capital of the pro-Russian Zaporozhye

This is reported by Kommersant with reference to the statement of Vladimir Rogov, a member of the Main Council of the pro-Russian administration of the Zaporozhye region.

According to Rogov, the decision to appoint Melitopol as the capital of the Zaporozhye region is temporary, "because after the liberation, the capital of the region will again be its regional center Zaporozhye." Now the city of Zaporozhye is under the control of the Ukrainian military.

Earlier it was reported that on September 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions as independent territories. On September 30, the signing of documents on their entry into Russia is scheduled. Previously, referendums were held in these territories. 99% of the inhabitants of the DNR, 98% of the inhabitants of the LNR, 87% of the inhabitants of the Kherson region and 93% of the inhabitants of the Zaporozhye region voted for joining Russia.

According to Rogov, Zaporozhye has already started developing the charter of the Zaporozhye region as a subject of the Russian Federation.

Meanwhile, neither Ukraine nor Western countries recognize the results of the referendums held in the Ukrainian regions, considering them an encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
