People living in the territory of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will be able to obtain Russian citizenship after taking the oath of a citizen of the Russian Federation.

This was announced by Pavel Krasheninnikov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation.

“Persons living in the new Russian territories, as well as those who previously lived in these territories, but left for Russia, acquire the citizenship of the Russian Federation as a result of recognition, subject to submission of an application and taking the oath of a citizen of the Russian Federation”, - Interfax quotes Krasheninnikov's words.

The deputy did not specify in what conditions the oath-taking should take place.

Those who receive citizenship of the Russian Federation can count on the payment of pensions, benefits, confirmation of work experience, documents on education, marital status, as well as social and medical assistance.

According to the plans of the Russian authorities, the military formations of the new subjects will be included in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and by June 1, 2023, permanent regional administrations will be formed in the new territories.

According to TASS, on October 2, the Constitutional Court of Russia approved a package of documents submitted by the President of the Russian Federation on the entry of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into the Russian Federation.

The documents say that the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions are considered to be accepted into the Russian Federation from the date of signing the agreements, that is, from September 30 of the current year. Each of these treaties "provisionally applies from the date of signature and enters into force from the date of ratification".
