It is reported by TASS with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK and the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea (KCNA). The North Korean authorities noted that the majority of citizens who took part in the vote supported joining the Russian Federation.
“We respect the will of the residents who wished to reunite with Russia, and we support the position of the Russian government on making these regions part of the country”, - Cho Chol-su, head of the Department of International Organizations of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, said.
According to the North Korean authorities, the referendums in the Ukrainian territories "were held in accordance with the UN Charter, which enshrined the principles of equality of people and their right to self-determination." The DPRK Foreign Ministry added that the vote took place "in accordance with legitimate procedures that made it possible to reflect the will of the inhabitants of the two republics and two regions".
It is noted that the diplomatic mission of the DPRK criticized the actions of the United States, which interfere in the affairs of other countries, seek to create a unipolar world and "abuse the UN Security Council".
North Korea noted that now the United States can no longer "use the UN Security Council as a shield and a means of aggression to maintain its dominance." The DPRK Foreign Ministry added that the UN Security Council left unanswered US military actions in the territory of the former Yugoslavia, in Afghanistan and Iraq.
It's worth reminding that on September 30, following the results of the referendums held from September 23 to 27 in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, agreements were signed on the entry of new territories into the Russian Federation.
Western countries and even some of Russia's partners in the CSTO massively announced non- recognition of the results of the referenda, noting that they violate Ukraine's right to territorial integrity.
The Czech authorities summoned the Russian ambassador to the country's Foreign Ministry "in connection with gross violation of international law and illegal annexation of the territory of Ukraine”. As noted by the representative of the department, Jan Lipavsky, the Russian ambassador was made clear that they would not tolerate "blatant theft of territory".
In addition, the French Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador to that country, Alexey Meshkov, for the same reason. The United States, Canada, Great Britain and a number of other countries have already imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation.
It was planned to discuss the incident at a meeting of the UN Security Council and adopt a resolution condemning the actions of the Russian Federation, but Russia used its veto right.
