Hackers tried to steal social media accounts of 150,000 Russians

About 150 thousand Russians this year became victims of scammers who tried to steal logins and passwords from their accounts, as well as bank card data in various services.

According to RIA Novosti with reference to a study by Kaspersky Lab, cybercriminals most often use the Trojan-stealer RedLine and its analogues to implement their criminal plans.

“These are malicious programs that steal logins and passwords from accounts in various services. Among them are banking, game accounts, accounts in instant messengers, social networks, saved passwords in programs and browsers”, - Kommersant quotes a message.

More than 8,000 Russians became victims of criminal encroachments by cybercriminals using the RedLine stealer Trojan. This malware steals passwords and credentials from browsers and desktop messengers.

The most common way to deliver malware was to send it to bloggers and owners of Telegram channels under the guise of promotional offers.

According to market experts, this year the demand for the services of cybersecurity specialists has increased dramatically in Russia. At the same time, prices for these services may increase by 20% by the end of the year.

A number of IT companies specializing in cybersecurity and software development, after the start of the Russian military operation on the territory of Ukraine and the announcement of partial mobilization, were forced to relocate their offices from Russia to other countries.
