“It's a hoax!”: Peskov denied information about 700,000 Russians who fled due to mobilization

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the data of journalists about 700,000 Russians who left abroad after the announcement of partial mobilization in the country do not correspond to reality.

Earlier it was reported that Forbes published data on the number of citizens who left the country, estimating the country's demographic losses due to migration due to mobilization at 700,000 people.

Peskov said that media reports on the number of those who left should not be taken seriously, but stressed that the Kremlin does not have exact numbers.

“It looks like some kind of duck. I don't even know what the Russian publishing house Forbes is. Is it published or not, is there a publishing house at all”, - Kommersant quotes Peskov as saying.

Earlier, Forbes, referring to the data of a person "familiar with the Kremlin's estimates", wrote that since September 21, about 700,000 people fled from Russia from mobilization, of which 200,000 went to Kazakhstan. At the end of the first week of mobilization, the media reported that 98,000 Russians fled to Kazakhstan.

The mass departure of citizens was recorded in all available directions of departure, air tickets were sold out almost completely on September 21 for all the coming dates, and huge traffic jams of thousands of cars accumulated on the land borders of the Russian Federation, especially to visa-free countries. The flow of refugees began to thin out only after mobile military registration and enlistment offices were installed at the border checkpoints.
