In the State Duma, proposals began to sound more insistently on the nationalization of Russian cars abandoned at the border. Following speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, United Russia Oleg Morozov put forward such an initiative.

According to Kommersant with reference to the statement of the State Duma deputy from United Russia Oleg Morozov, the country must legally allow the seizure of cars abandoned on the borders of Russia.

“We urgently need to amend the law to allow decisions to be made on the transfer to state ownership of vehicles that are not in demand for, for example, a month after the owner crossed the border,” RIA Novosti quoted Morozov as saying.

Morozov added that the owners of the abandoned car should be obliged to "personally present their rights to it."

The parliamentarian is convinced that if the government develops and submits such a measure to the State Duma, “this will just allow the removal of abandoned vehicles.”

The problem of accumulations of abandoned cars of Russians at the borders arose at the end of September.

After the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree on partial mobilization on September 21, a stream of migrants from the Russian Federation poured abroad who did not want to be drafted. Many of them got to the borders in their cars, but were forced to leave them on the Russian side due to long queues at the checkpoint and cross the border on foot.

After the authorities installed mobile military registration and enlistment offices near the checkpoint, the queues at the borders disappeared, and cars abandoned by the owners remained on the roadsides and nearby parking lots.

At the end of September, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin proposed in a special way to decide the fate of cars that were abandoned in front of checkpoints in the border areas of the Russian Federation. According to Volodin, the cars left by the owners should be confiscated from the evaders and handed over to the families of the mobilized citizens .

Now many fugitives are looking for ways to urgently overtake or sell cars abandoned near the checkpoint.

The exact number of cars abandoned at the borders is not reported. However, it is known that about 700,000 citizens have left the country since the start of the mobilization campaign.
