A court in Kemerovo convicted Vyacheslav Vishnevsky, former general director of the Zimnyaya Vishnya (Winter Cherry - editor's note) shopping center. For a bribe to the head of the State Construction Supervision Authority during the reconstruction of the building, he will spend 8 years in a strict regime colony.

In addition to the real term of imprisonment, Vishnevsky was fined 21 million rubles, Kommersant notes.

At the end of September, the state prosecution requested Vyacheslav Vishnevsky, co-owner of the Zimnyaya Cherry shopping center, ten years in prison. Vishnevsky admitted that he gave a bribe of 7 million rubles.

The investigation notes that the reconstruction of the Zimnyaya Cherry shopping center was carried out with gross violations of technical standards. For example, automatic fire extinguishing systems were not installed in the building.

During the fire of the Zimnyaya Cherry shopping center in 2018, 60 people died, including 37 children. Most of them were trapped in a fire trap in the halls of the cinema, the emergency exits of which were closed.

The tragedy in the shopping center was preceded by a corruption conspiracy between the director of the institution and the head of the inspection of the Gosstroynadzor of the region Tanzilya Komkova, her son Eduard Komkov and the director of ISK Resource LLC Nikita Cherednichenko. Four years before the tragedy, Vishnevsky gave members of the criminal group a bribe of 7 million rubles. In return, the head of the inspection department, Svetlana Shengerei, wrote in the inspection report that the necessary work in the shopping center had allegedly been completed.

Subsequently, she, Komkovs and Cherednichenko were sentenced to real prison terms. They received from seven to 18 years in prison. And the case of Vishnevsky had to be considered separately, because after the fire he fled abroad. When the ex-director was put on the international wanted list, he was found in Poland and extradited to Russia. Initially, Vishnevsky did not admit guilt, but then confessed to bribery.
