The mayor of the city Vitali Klitschko reported about the explosions in the Shevchenkovsky district of Kiev.
Klitschko said that there are hits on critical infrastructure in the city. Metro trains have been stopped in Kiev. The subway switched to work in bomb shelter mode.
As Kommersant notes with reference to the data of AFP journalists at the scene of the emergency, there were at least three explosions.
According to RIA Novosti, one of the rockets in Kiev fell on Volodymyrska Street, where the office of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is located. The office of President Volodymyr Zelensky is located very close by. Data on the injured and dead is not yet available.
Local media report that in the center of Kiev, where the explosions occurred, "civilian cars are on fire".
President Zelensky announced an air alert throughout the country and urged citizens not to leave shelters.
