It is reported by " Kommersant " with reference to data from Foreign Policy.
The letter, signed by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, was received by the US Congress the day before, after the Russian army launched multiple missile strikes on Ukrainian cities. The Rada noted that the ground-based air defense systems at the disposal of the Ukrainian army are not enough to repel such attacks, including to protect critical facilities, such as power plants.
According to the Ukrainian authorities, modern F-15 and F-16 fighters, which are in service with NATO countries, will help protect the country's airspace.
Earlier it became known that as a result of Russian missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine on October 10, 11 people were killed and about 90 were injured.
The Russian authorities called the shelling a response to the explosion on the Crimean bridge on October 8. The Russian Foreign Ministry warned that if Kyiv receives long-range missile systems from NATO countries, this will become a “red line” for the Kremlin. Experts believe that further aggravation of the situation in Ukraine could provoke a nuclear conflict.
