The minimum retail price for champagne will rise for the second time in seven years, media reported. Two years ago, the growth was 3%, now it is 41.4%.

To be precise, on January 1, 2023, the minimum retail price for sparkling wines is proposed to be increased immediately by 1.4 times, or 41.4%, from 69 to 239 rubles per bottle.

Interestingly, the price of this type of alcohol has risen only once over the past seven years - in 2021 by five rubles. Moreover, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation promised that the minimum price of 169 rubles, set on January 1, 2021, will remain unchanged for another 6 years right up to December 31, 2026. Alas, Siluanov's department, as we see, is not going to keep its promise.

Journalists remind that in 2018 the head of the Ministry of Finance promised to freeze excises and, therefore, the minimum retail prices for strong alcohol for two years at once, but after a couple of months, prices for cognac and vodka increased by 5 and 4.6%, and even a year later - by 7 and 11%, respectively.

In total, over the past 4 years, the minimum retail price for alcohol has increased by 37% (vodka), 39% (cognac) and 28% (brandy and other distillates).
