The publication in Novye Izvestia helped the wheelchair to move from the "measuring point" the problem of the lack of an "accessible environment" in his house.

Andrey Lampadov, Kostromich, is getting ready for his first independent walk in the last seven years: workers have just completed the installation of an electric lift in the entrance of his apartment building, which allows lowering and raising a wheelchair through a high flight of stairs.

“I have been waiting for this event since 2015! First, in the old apartment, where there was no "accessible environment", then in the new one, where I have been living for three years. Many thanks to the journalists who paid attention to my trouble. Before publication in Novye Izvestia, the authorities, unfortunately, sent only replies. They “didn’t see” a way to solve the problem,” said Andrey Lampadov.

It was possible to install the lift thanks to the involvement of a construction company, Andrey's former employer, in the work. Seven years ago, while at work, former paratrooper Lampadov received a severe spinal injury at work, after which he was confined to a wheelchair.

According to Andrey Lampadov, he has not yet had time to test the newly installed lifting device: in order to safely leave the wheelchair from the entrance, it is necessary to complete the improvement of the thresholds, removing height differences, and then call a special commission that will take the device into operation.

“So far, I don’t know who will serve the lift: the mayor’s office or the management company. Also, I have not yet been explained whether it will be possible to reinstall the device in another house if our family of four is able to improve their living conditions and move from a cramped one-room apartment to a larger apartment. I wrote about this request to the mayor's office. I hope that they will answer me soon”, - said Andrei Lampadov in an interview with NI.
