The press service of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Novosibirsk Region announced the initiation of a criminal case against Sergey Mamontov, a deputy of the Council of Deputies of the Tatar District.

The day before, it became known about an accident in which the driver of a Toyota RAV4 hit a child, after which he fled the scene.

“The Tatar Interdistrict Investigation Department of the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk Region initiated a criminal case against a 67-year-old resident of the city of Tatarsk, suspected of committing a crime under 125 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (leaving in danger)”, - the website of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on Novosibirsk region.

The identity of the suspect does not appear in the message, but the indicated age corresponds to the age of Mamontov. The incident was caught on surveillance cameras. Local residents learned on the footage of the deputy of the Council of Deputies of the Tatar region from the "United Russia". The party has already reacted to the situation, promising to “disgracefully expel” him from the structure of the organization, as well as help the child and his family.

“According to the investigation, on the evening of October 30, 2022, the defendant, driving a Toyota RAF 4 car through the courtyard of an apartment building in the city of Tatarsk, hit a 6-year-old boy. The man did not take measures to provide first aid and fled the scene, and the child was taken to the central district hospital, where he is receiving medical care", - the Investigative Committee added.

The department clarified that investigators continue to collect and consolidate the evidence base in the case.

Earlier today it became known that the prosecutor's office of the Novosibirsk region organized an investigation into the incident. Initially, two administrative cases were initiated under Articles 12.24 and 12.27 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation - Violation of traffic rules that caused minor or moderate harm to the health of the victim and Failure to fulfill obligations in connection with an accident, respectively. Later, the prosecutor's office added to the list of charges a criminal article on leaving in danger (Article 125 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
