Izvestia: the State Duma wants to introduce criminal penalties for evading mobilization

“The State Duma has taken up the elimination of gaps in the legislation that were identified during partial mobilization. In the near future, deputies and senators from United Russia will submit amendments to the Criminal Code to the lower house of parliament, implying punishment for mobilization evaders in the form of a fine of up to 500 thousand rubles or imprisonment for up to five years, ”Izvestia reports . referring to sources in the State Duma.

The publication notes that at the moment there is no criminal liability for evading mobilization - the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation stipulates only liability for evading military service (military and alternative civilian). The authors of the initiative point out that the bill is not considered in the context of the partial mobilization announced on September 21. Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Ernest Valeev notes that mobilization has not been carried out in Russia since 1941, so many laws on it have ceased to work.

“For refusing to mobilize, they propose to fine draft dodgers in amounts from 200,000 to 500,000 rubles or in the amount of other income for a period of one to three years. Compulsory labor for up to five years can also be punished. The most severe method proposed by parliamentarians is imprisonment for up to five years, ”the agency notes.

Valeev confirmed to Izvestia that the bill had already been prepared for submission to parliament.
