The Institute for Problems of Natural Monopolies found out that during October, passenger traffic in electric trains fell by 6 million people - 7% of the planned monthly figures. Experts linked the trend with a “decrease in the transport mobility of the male half of the population” due to partial mobilization.

According to Vedomosti , last month the number of commuter train passengers amounted to 88.4 million, which is 5.4% less than the same period in 2021. In the period of January-October, 855.3 million passengers traveled by electric trains - plus 6.2% year-on-year. According to IPEM CEO Vladimir Savchuk, by December the figures will grow to 90 million passengers.

According to Russian Railways, in October the number of passengers (8.2 million people) and passenger turnover (6.4 billion passenger-kilometers) exceeded the figures for 2021 by 16 and 22%. A similar growth was also noted according to the data for the first ten months of the year.

In August, we recall, it became known that the net loss of the largest electric train operator in Russia, the Central Suburban Passenger Company (operating in 11 constituent entities of the Russian Federation), in the first half of 2022 amounted to 4.344 billion rubles, which is four times more than the same period in 2021- th, when the losses were at the level of 1.097 billion rubles.
