At the Lenin mine of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan, a gas explosion occurred, killing five people. More than a hundred people have been evacuated.

Initially, four victims of the blowout were found, but at 9:09 a.m., the body of a fifth worker was found.

The accident happened while drilling gas drainage wells. Four employees of the enterprise also received methane poisoning and were hospitalized. 106 employees of the mine had to be evacuated.

An investigation has been launched under an article on violation of safety rules during mining or construction work.

Note that the company is part of the international steel concern Arcelor-Mittal.
